At the foundation of Adrian Fanus Grooming lies the principal that we all have a human obligation to leave this world in a much better place than we found it. If one life is improved from our efforts then it is not in vain. We owe it to ourselves and the world to give back as much as we possible can and when we have accomplished that then give back even more.  - Adrian Fanus

January 12, 2010

On 12 January 2010, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti with more than 50 aftershocks following over the next 12 days. The disaster left more than 220,000 people dead and over 300,000 injured. The government of Haiti estimated that 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings had collapsed or were severely damaged.

Adrian Fanus Grooming responded by organizing a clothing drive. We collected gently worn clothing for the men, women and children affected by the earthquake. The response was overwhelming as AFG Clients and the Brooklyn community was very supportive. The Salon was filled with boxes from floor to ceiling and there was hardly any moving space.

A forty-foot moving truck was needed to move all the boxes from AFG and was shipped to Haiti through a non profit organization. The success of the clothing drive is a testament of team-work and selflessness.

Adrian Fanus Grooming has partnered with The Central Brooklyn Soccer club by helping to raise funding to help the kids with traveling around the world playing and competing in soccer at an international level. The goal is to allow each child to gain the necessary skills set to attain soccer scholarships and possible play soccer at a professional level.

The Central Brooklyn Soccer Federation was established in 2011 to provide recreational soccer to the children in the Crown Heights/East Flatbush/Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhoods in Brooklyn. The program was initially developed as an intramural summer program for kids 5-16 and there were approximately 100-120 kids enrolled in the program.

Over the past two years the program has been expanded to include both boys and girls travel teams that participate in the New York Club Soccer League. The program is now run year round including summer day camps for the players. Our program is self-funded by our fundraising endeavors and parent contributions, all coaches and other staff are volunteers.
